You need one.
I. Do not create a disrespectful name. Your name cannot be racist, sexist, rude, etc.
II. Only one account per person. This one account will house ALL of your characters, no exceptions [unless the staff grant you an extra account]
III. Like your user name, your signature, avatar, custom title, etc., cannot promote/advertise/mention racist, sexist, rude, etc. content. As well, if you are advertising a website on your profile, it may not promote/advertise/heavily mention racist, sexist, rude, etc. content.
Out of Character
I. Please be polite. We do tolerate occasional swearing out of character, but don't use that privilege to be disrespectful to another member. This includes fighting, mocking, or overall "dissing".
II. Do not spam on our boards or Chat box.
III. Do not advertise on our boards or our chat box [besides the designated board]
Important stuff. Yeah.
I. On Secrets of the Clans, we only allow domesticated cats. Other animals may be given out on very rare occasions by the staff, but you are not allowed to regularly create species other than the "house cat"
II. You may have as many characters as you desire, as long as you can control them all actively. We would suggest 10 cats maximum, but you do not need to follow that.
III. Your character cannot be perfect. Make sure they have flaws. However, it can't always be raining over your character. Give them some strong points too.
IV. No through and through evil characters without a good reason. Not every character kills their family and then goes on a killing rampage, and SOTC's staff really don't want a lot of these without a really, really good reason.
V. You must create a form for your character before you can role play them. It's too easy to forget about your forms, and then never continue them. Note that if we find that you role play a cat without forms they will be unable to take place in any major events, including bearing kits and taking a mate.
[Beans is the last key word]
In character!
I. Do not complain to us if your character lost a fight or anything else that may upset you. Your character just isn't strong enough/didn't fight hard enough =)
II. Leaders do not need permission from you to exile your character. They are in power to do that, if they're bad or your character broke their code.
III. You may role play in first or third person. Second person is extremely strange, so no second.
IV. You must have 150 words or more per post. We have provided you with a word count at the bottom of the page. Please use it.
V. You must use correct spelling, and good grammar. Good grammar is pretty much just using the correct 'there's' and 'your's' and using your punctuation, etc. Spell check is provided at the bottom of each page.
VI. Liquid time is currently allowed, as long as you're not at one part of the forest in one thread, and then on the complete opposite side on another thread. Try to stay within the surrounding boards of where your character currently is.
VII. Do not power play. Power playing is when you control someone else's character.
VIII. Do not God Mode. This is making your character invincible for very strong.
IX. Do not read minds. This can be telling a character's thoughts when they're not displayed through a position, voice, etc. that's hinted at. Also, you cannot use out of character information to help your character.
X. You may swear in character. However, please put a [L] tag in your post or in your topic. Hell, Mousedung, crap, and others alike do not count as swears.
XI. Private threads must have a [C], a
, or who you're role playing with's name in tags. If you wish to signify the thread is open, use an [O]-- this however, is not needed, but suggested.
subcategory: breeding
XII. No graphic breeding is allowed. Mounting, grabbing by the scruff, and other introductions are the most allowed. The male should have the last move if you get that far. If you must have your graphic breeding, then just message each other, because not everyone wants to be exposed to that material.
XIII. Cats cannot breed until they're 11 moons old, youngest. However, births rarely effectively carry through at that point, so we would suggest waiting until 18 moons or older.
XIV. The amount, status, and looks of kittens are chosen by the staff.
subcategory: fighting
XV. When fighting, we don't have the one hit, two dodge rule. However, after the fight, a few factors will be evaluated, such as the age, condition, and quality of hits made by both, and how effective they were. For example, a 9 year old sick cat's attack would not be as effective as a healthy two year old's. Also, without the one hit two dodge rule, fighting can last for much longer.
XVI. Even though we don't have that rule, we don't want to have you dodge every attack. If you constantly dodge and don't take ANY hits, we will intermission the fight, tell you to stop dodging, and whiskers will be taken away. {only worry about this rule if you dodge for over three times in a row}
XVII. Alert all of the staff members when a cereal fight emerges. Only mail us with fights that will end in cereal wounds or death.
XVIII. Swear filters are currently disabled, but if too many Clan or Tribe cats swear using human words, not the respectful cat ones, the filters will become enabled again.
XX. To signify the following of these rules, search the other thread for hidden words that you will need to create a character. Highlight this entire post to find out what the codeword is.
Red= New Rule
Blue= Changed Rule
Brown= Rule that members need to pay more attention to.
