Shadestar was fast asleep in his den again when he encountered the Dark Forest for the second time. Only two suns had passed, and as Shadestar opened his icy blue eyes in his dream state, he recognized the scent of crow food. He managed to control his wincing and fur prickling as his father stepped forward.
Shadestar nodded at his father, as the scarred tom walked over to Shadestar, and brushed pelts with him. Shadestar shivered, but his father did nothing, if he even felt it. He couldn't breathe for a moment.
"It's simply brilliant meeting you again, Shadestar. Just to share some words and have a progress check." Shadestar looked at his father, and didn't speak, as Sin twisted around Shadestar's body, and in front of him. Sin narrowed his eyes, and then slowly opened them. "Oh, yes, it's only right of me to start the conversation with the great leader of ShadowClan!" Shadestar could nearly taste the vemon dripping off of his voice, and could certainly smell the crowfood of his breath. "How is your progress going?"
"Oh, um, fairly well. I've just been waiting for the right opportunity."
"You have not, I am certain that you have just been putting it off, and trying to ignore us. Your soul will reside with the Dark Forest until the deed has been done, Shadestar."
Shadestar's heart dropped. Foxdung! I'm damned either way!
"Correct. Unless, you happen to do the deal, and then.." Shadestar cut his father off with a low growl.
Shadestar pounced beside his father, teeth bared, claws unsheathed. "You need me in this, father! If I was to die right now, I could spoil your plans! Face it, I'm an asset! You listen to my words!"
Sin wasn't detered at all by Shadestar's attempt at bravery. He looked up into the black void above him for a moment, and then back down at Shadestar. "If you die, which you have not enough in yourself to do that for others, anyway, Redeyes will still take over, and lead the forest into chaos. Everything will be the same: Besides your lifespan, of course. Maybe things would even be more peaceful under your rule."
Stumped again.. Shadestar thought, taking a few steps forward. He looked Sin in the eyes, and then noticed he needed to avoid eye contact.
"Anyways, we really need to get that mouse running... You may be a little bit too soft, so I think a good first objective is to kill your brother, Drydusk. He's getting in the way a bit." Shadestar's eyes widened at this.
"Dad, he's my brother! I can't do that!"
Sin chuckled to himself. "Details, details! If he were any other cat who broke the warrior code halphazoardly and was in your way, what would you do?"
"I would punish them, Sin. Oh, and do you watch the forest often?" Shadestar said the first part like he was trying to be intimidating, and then said the last sentence quickly.
"First thing's first, I'll tell you whatever you want once your brother's dead. Just take your punishment a step up this time. With your brother dead, there will be nobody wanting him to take your place.. because he's dead!" Sin laughed at the last part, but Shadestar didn't find it too funny himself.
Shadestar's mind was racing with doubt, but he nodded to Sin. "I suppose I should. But, you're going to need to give me some time to frame it," he meowed, looking his father in the eyes, trying to fake respect. Either his father bought it or ignored his doubts.
"Three sunrises. Then we'll meet again," Sin meowed darkly. Shadestar nodded, and his dream began to slowly dim, until it was black.
Shadestar awoke. "Fuxdung," he murmured, not caring to open his eyes all the way.
