[[i didn't know what to call this so i clicked on the subject and then that popped up and i was just like: oh w/e
topic's small talk. under the word limit is okay if it doesn't happen often.]]
Orangesky padded into camp. His frame was extremely skinny, so much so that you could see his bones. When he saw a few rabbit bones in the fresh kill pile, his eyes widened. They looked like discarded kit food. He snapped at the bones, and ate the marrow inside of it. He hoped it didn't dull his teeth. Oh, whatever. Dull teeth or go hungry another day. he decided, as he finished up the last bits. Orangesky got up slowly, and stretched, with a little perrr-oo, and then walked a little about camp. It was the middle of the day, and ther had been no hunting patrols just yet.
Orangesky noticed Nightstar, and she didn't look to happy. Kind of confused, troubled. Orangesky padded over to her. He had no intent of mating with her. It always pissed him off, how everybody in the Clan thought that he wanted to mate with them, like he was going to rape them in the middle of the night or something.
The orange tabby walked up to her, and asked: "Nightstar, is it the fight that's bothering you? or.. is it something else?"

Nightstar looked up at her orange warrior as he came towards her. Her orange eyes flashed and her shoulders hunched up as her head fell with a hefty sigh at his question. She looked to the gray sky, the cold biting at her skin, even underneath her slightly fluffy fur. She flicked her black tail, shaking her head, trying to gather her thoughts before she spoke, so she wasn't speaking gibberish. Finally, she said something in response.
"It's many things, Orangesky. It' the fight, the more than usual lack of leafbare prey, FireClan, how no signs have come from StarClan at all, no matter how much I seek them out. I get the slightest glimpses of Mmidnightmoon and my mother, but it's always an apparition and just their scent, and no omens or words of advice, even when I ask for it." She flicked her tail in dismissal. To herself, but still aloud she said: "At times like this I wonder how I ever even dreamt of being leader when I was a young apprentice. How easy it would be to become Sanctuarykit, then Sanctruarypaw again, and not Nightfire or Nightstar as I am now. There are so many consequences and results from every single one decision and they cannot be predicted. Should we do this, we might lose all or none of our warriors. If we did that, we'd probably all die from hunger or injuries. How I so wish that even, just for a few hours, I'd like to be able o escape it all and just lead a normal life of a normal clan warrior, and not have all these doubts, fears, and guilts riding on my shoulders as well as the life of my entire clan. But I know that in the end, this is where I belong. I always used to question Twilightstar's motives in my being deputy, but I know that she thought I could handle being leader one day. Already I have lost four lives in defending my Clan. I have five more to go, and even if I lose them all to rid this place of those inbred beasts that call themselves a clan I will gladly do it." She looked back up at her warrior and sighed, finlly ending ehr speech. "But, I shouldn't be putting this all off on ou. You probably weren't paying attention to half of what I said."

"No, no, I was. I understand, things must be complicated." Orangesky meowed, looked behind him at some hungry cats who were coming out of the warriors den. "Is there anything I can do to help, maybe? Do you have any issues you want to share? I mean, I just want my mind to get off of hunger for a few moments."
Orangesky stared into Nightstar's eyes for a short time, and then looked away. "Leaf-bares really tough this year. It's longer than normal.. maybe.. our medicine cat's eyes just haven't been open wide enough to see the signs.. maybe they're hidden."

Nightstar sniffed, then averted her gave to the medicine cat's den. "Leafsong may not be clan born or have any strong belief in StarClan, but her eye to StarClan is strong. She sees more than I ever think she will see. Cloudrunner is even more adept at interpreting the signs of StarClan, but he is in Riverclan. Oh, how I wish to have him back with us right now. But, he's still training Owlpaw. It shouldn't be much longer, thank StarClan. In my own opinion, FireClan has stalked our pawsteps for to long. Something must be done. We just aren't strong enough though. It's as if those inbred things are invincible." she looked around to her hungry warriors, then back to Orangesky. "Would you like to come to my den, where no one will overhear our conversation and gossip?" It was not merely a request, but a commanded suggestion.

"Uhm, yes. I'm right behind you," Orangesky meowed, walking behind his leader. He paused for a moment, walking right behind her at a normal pace, his gray eyes staring at the ground. "I don't doubt Leafsong's abilities or anything. I just don't know why StarClan isn't sending us signs and directions on what to do, when we're all suffering like this. Even RiverClan seems to be getting weak despite readily available rivers."
When the two cats were finally over by the rock, where there were some grasses and privacy, Orangesky looked at his leader. "Can I lay down, or should I stay standing?" he asked, ear twitching a little bit. He was all alone with Nightstar, and she had invited it. Did this mean something? Was she mad at him, proud of him, or..?
"We need to defeat FireClan, as they only grow stronger as they mix with ShadowClan's blood." he twitched his left ear, and avoided eye contact for a moment. His eyes fell back on Nightstar, and he twitched his pelt, shaking a little bit of his fur off. "I probably look like a.. an anxious kit, right?" He was going to say: 'A cat twitching its fur shortly before death', but the humor was too stale, and too real.

(( Ah, how I love me some dramatic irony! "a cat twitching it's fur shortly before death"... ))
She laid down, flivking her tail to invite her warrior to do so. She thought for a few seconds. Winterwind had been failing in his job as deputy, or at least not doing it right. He had done it right at first but now... She flicked her tail up and down, and looked to the now slowly falling sun as she thought. "The battle is not far away, Orangesky... I'm starting to have some doubts about, if I do lose all my lives driving FireClan away, if he would make the right leader. I was wondering of your thoughts on it." And also maybe a little something more... she thought, putting her tail up, mostly as a sign.

Orangesky watched Nightstar's tail go up, and lay down himself. "Who's 'he'?" Orangesky meowed, but then quickly followed: "Oh, Winterwind. I don't know, I think he's an okay deputy. He's better than a lot of WindClan's cats. He just seems like a cat who is an ideal deputy, but wouldn't make an ideal leader, you know?" Orangesky shook his pelt, some of the snow flying off. "Man, if there's one thing that sucks about the moors, it's leaf-bare.." he grumbled quietly, looking Nightstar in the eye, and then switching his gaze to different objects. "You still have a lot of lives to spare, Nightstar. I think that you'll be fine,"

Noticing his switch of gaze, she put her tail up against her back, and the smell of a female cat in estress wafted towards him. She kept looking at him. She had this feeling... This feeling she might not make it throught this battle. She'd like to have mated at least once, even if she would not have the kits. Also, she'd like to mate with Orangesky. It was a handsome, sensible tom. That was when she spoke after looking at him. "That's just my point, Orangesky. He wouldn't be ideal for a leader. And just so you know, I have five lives left. I keep thinking that if he's not ideal for the job he's entitled to when I die, then I need to replace him now so the new deputy can get into the swing of things. Know what I mean?"
[[Mail me if you want them to mate or not. ]]

"Hm, I suppose. I just hope that Winterwind doesn't get angry at losing his position as leader." He tried to keep as calm as possible with the scent wafting towards him, but it was only so long before he couldn't resist it. After about a minute of smelling the overpowering scents, he rose to his feet, and nuzzled Nightstar's head.
