Flamepaw trod at the back of the patrol, thinking. This would be her and Ravenpaw's last patrol as apprentices. When they returned, they would be made warriors. It had been nearly a half-moon since Dustpaw had left during the bramble stealing mission. Like she cared, honestly. Her tail twitched as she pitched her ears forward. Dreambreaker's whiskers twitched as she smelt something. Dreambreaker's timidly soft voice spoke. "Hmm. I smell prey. I'll be back soon. Go one without me." Dreambreaker's mainly black calico pelt shot off without another word as she stalked what she had smelled. Flamepaw didn't smell anything, but that didn't mean nothing was there. Flamepaw shrugged and went on, focusing on their main goal.
She stopped and lifted her head in the air, tasting the wind. Nothing much besides the border scents. The air above the patrol was a deep, rolling gray, as if the first snows were on the way. She could smell it in the air. "Snow seems to be on the way." she said, really to none of the other cats in the patrol, but really just as a quick statement. She drew up to the rest of the patrol, marking a border rock as she went. She fell in between Pinestep and Ravenpaw, easily matching their pace to her own, slightly shorter legs.

"I hope that Shadestar won't delay our warrior ceremonies again. Then again, he's been doing nothing but complimenting me on my training." Ravenpaw said quietly to Flamepaw, making sure that the prey in the forest didn't hear. Ravenpaw had been getting plumper it seemed, but she said that she had merely eaten some twoleg cat food. Shadestar didn't bother with punishment, but other cats looked down upon her for it. And, since she had only been getting fatter, it meant that she had been eating more twoleg food. And, she refused to see Crowpaw anymore. It was becoming fairly obvious things had been happening to her that she wanted to hide.
Some cats suspected she was becoming a kitty-pet. A few females believed she was pregnant. Others thought that she just wasn't working hard enough and was gaining weight, which was usually quickly dismissed. Other cats believed it was a one-time thing at the twoleg nest.
"It's terribly cold out, isn't it, Flamepaw?" Ravenpaw said to her sister, after she shivered. "Hopefully we can catch some mice, so that we can become warriors. Also, rumor has it Shadestar's going to train his daughter under him. Although I feel bad for little Sablekit, I think that there was an alternative. After all, he'll be clogged up with her for a little while. Well, she's handicapped, so it's not like she can learn completely normal.."

Flamepaw looked at her sister, slight suspicion carried in her dark green gems. She kept her auds to the front though, her tail waving in the air like a banner. Her voice carried low, only Ravenpaw could hear. "You act as if you absolutely need to becom a warrior." Her green gams flicked to Ravenpaw's bilging belly then back to her sister's face. "I know the story about eating twoleg food isn't true. We may not get along perfectly, but I am your sister and I will listen. Yes, you may get a tongue lashing, but I only mean the best honestly. I do care for you, and if something is going on I'd like to be ab;e to help." The red calico puased once again. Then sighed slightly and went on. "I don't want to be delayed my warrior name any longer, but I've been wondering by the way you're acting. Did one of the FireClan toms get to you? If you want to tell me, that's fine. Just bear in mind if I can catch him alone..." She trailed off, her claws coming out slighty.
"Unless you wanted hiom to do it, then I won't hurt him. Becoming a mother is something only the she-cat knows she's ready for. You're going to have to go to Crowpaw sometime soon, Ravenpaw. It's becoming obvious, and for the sake of the kits you'll need to get proper care." She didn't comment on Sablekit, knowing her response might get her fired up.

"No, sister. I did just get into kitty-pet food." Ravenpaw's teats begged to differ, but she usually just hissed at any cat who commented. "It was wrong, but this is my first real leaf-bare. I got hungry." The black queen continued walking. "I've been in my own fair share of issues, sister. I don't need rumors of me expecting kits floating around," Ravenpaw sighed quietly, walking silently through the forest. She closed her green eyes for a moment, and hung her mouth open. "Please don't spread these rumors about me. You can't believe everything you hear. Besides, if I was expecting kits, my belly would be far bigger, and I'd be unable to move. I would feel sick and I'd need to go to the medicine cat. I've heard all of these things before,"
Ravenpaw glared at her sister for a moment, and then trotted forward, mouth open, detecting prey. Before Flamepaw could reply to her last statement, she started talking. "I smell voles by the riverbank, Flamepaw. I'll hunt there. Meet me there, okay?" With that, Ravenpaw trotted off, tail high in the air, to catch voles.

Dreambreaker came back through some low hanging pine branches, a couple of frogs hanging form her jaws. She looked at Flamepa w with an accusing glare when she saw Ravenpaw was not there. Flamepaw was indignant "She went off to hunt at the Riverbank. She asked me to meet her there after I caught a few pieces!" she slightly hissed. Dreambreaker shrugged and walked over to Mosspelt. Flamepaw shot off slightly towards the riverbank, and cuaght the scent of a vole. Her dark green gems quickly spotted it rustling amongst the grasses and fallen pine needles. She crouched low, stepped forward carefully, and pounced. She cuaght it between her paws and she snapped it's neck without it squeking. A clean and silent kill, swift as a hummingbird's wingbeat.
She picked it up in her jaws and went to the Riverbank, searching out her sister. How can she not be pregnant? Her teats are enlarged, as is her belly. She smells of milk and slight kit-scent. How can she go on denying it much longer? She won't be able to hide it when she goes into kitting, so why does she go on hiding it? I'm not going into the clan rumor pool! I've seen plenty of pregnant cats since FireClan came. I know what a pregnant she-cat looks and smells like, especially if she's my sister! |

Ravenpaw was sneaking up on a vole when it suddenly retreated. Foxdung! It's not like it even saw me! Ravenpaw thought, narrowing her eyes. However, she began to feel vibrations under her feet. Ravenpaw picked her head and body up, and looked at what may be causing the vibrations frantically.
There was a roaring sound, and Ravenpaw's ears shot up. The roar continued for about two minutes, and then there was a brief moment of silence. There was a sound like thunder, and Ravenpaw abandoned her two kills, and went to see the commotion.
Ravenpaw ran alone for a few moments, and then encountered a fallen tree. Her eyes widened. There must have been a creature in the forest eating the trees!
Her eyes spotted something orange. A twoleg! But.. twolegs didn't eat trees. They ate herbs and stuff. Then, the terrible roaring started again. She then noticed what it was: It was about the size of her body, armed with fangs. Bewildered and frightened, she stood by as the creature tore into the flesh of the tree, eventually killing it, by making it fall. Great StarClan! Ravenpaw thought, noticing the pine trees as they fell. Is this a message from StarClan? I should tell Crowpaw.. but then he'll want to see about my kits.. damn... I'll just tell Shadestar. He wouldn't poke his nose into my business like my family thinks they have the right to,
Ravenpaw decided to grab the voles, and then return to camp, and tell Shadestar. With that, she ran off to the lakeshore.
