The Cat// Pinestep the A/c/c/e/p/t/i/n/g The Noted// k he'll try this again The Number// 223 Pinestep carefully lead his apprentice to the same spot they had come last time, and ignored the haunting feeling he got from it. This would be Ravenpaw's first real oppurtunity to hunt, and maybe to get some fighting in. And this was the perfect place to do it.
"Okay Ravenpaw. you might be a little apprehensive about doing this, being as last time... well, forget that. If you're in a fight on another clan's territory, you'll always feel a little scared. The point is, when you need to do something for you're clan, like hunting or fighting, you'll need to forget that you're uncomfortable," he told her.
He opened his mouth, the scent of prey flowing in. Then he decided what they would do. "Here's a little something on technique." he began, getting into the hunting crouch, setting his sights on a squirrel. "Stay still, and watch me." He slowly moved forward, taking care to be sure that he didn't startle the poor creature.
"Then, when you're about this close..." he sprang, grabbing the squirrel and snapping it's neck. "You jump.". He padded over to his apprentice. Be careful, this time, he though, and it showed in his eyes. He didn't want anymore falling out of trees.
"Ravenpaw. You're turn."

[atrb=border,0,true][cs=7][bg=101010] the count;; THREE SIX OOOOHHHH the cat;; Ravenpaw the involved;; Pinestep the notes;; EXCITED.. again.
Ravenpaw did feel frightened as she walked through the place where she had tore a claw. It hadn't healed.. and luckily tearing one front claw and a dewclaw wasn't too bad at all, if you put anti-infection stuff on it, like Ashenanarchy. He was okay.
Ravenpaw's heart pounded, fear and excitement, all rolled into one. "Yeah, I should get used to this feeling. And tearing a couple claws is no big deal." she replied, sounding as strong as possible. She watched Pinestep killed, and excitement overran everything within her.
"Okay..." Ravenpaw hung her jaw open, and sniffed at the scents. All kinds of scents filled her mouth, and it took her two minutes or so to filter out prey. She closed her mouth, licked her lips, and began to divide it.
She smelled a squirrel, and walking over t a tree, and saw one, mouth full of acorns. She wasn't climbing for another one again. Vole. Ravenpaw instinctively got down, and slowly moved towards the scent of the vole. Her tail dragged, and her feet shuffled. She found one, on the ground, as if it were waiting to be caught, not budging. Ravenpaw licked her lips. It was before a few ferns. She flicked her tail, and then got about five feet away from it.
She pounced, and her teeth wrapped around its neck killing it.. instantly? Ravenpaw wrinkled her nose, and got away from it. It was already dead, and it was so cold. She noticed it was a little flat, and upon flipping it over, noticed the bottom was a little decayed.
"Hmph," she grunted, and then smelled a mouse. Finally!
Ravenpaw got down. It wasn't too far away. She used the same tactic. Her tail dragged, and her feet shuffled. She was about seven feet away from the mouse when it lifted her head.
Two more mouselengths. Two more..
Ravenpaw went the two, and then pounced. The mouse was on its guard though, and escaped her jaws. Ravenpaw grunted, and looked behind her, failure and disappointment in her green eyes. "How did it see me coming? I did what you did.."

the Cat// Pinestep the A/c/c/e/p/t/i/ng the Noted// k let's try again the Number// 234 Pinestep chuckled as he watched his apprentice shuffle through the forest scents. She'll need a little more practice on that, he thought. She crouched, crossing the forest floor. Her first catch: a dead vole. She tried again, now locating a mouse.
Pinestep watched his apprentice carefully. She was too noisy, between her tail dragging on the forest floor, making enough noise for a mouse to hear, and her shuffling paws. He sighed to himself, but he knew he couldn't give up. He had no reason to be disaproving, nobody got there first catch. Well, not usually...
When she failed to make a catch, he figured it was time too tell her. "You're making too much noise. Even though you can't really hear it, most prey can. Don't let you're tail drag on the ground too much, and make your pawsteps careful; don't step on anything noisy. That should help. And don't worry, this was only your first time." he mewed quitetly. "Now, I'm sure that you want to try again."
He watched her again, filtering through various scents. Hopefully she learned how to distinguish live from dead. Her eyes filled with life, she finally found another animal. Another vole, but this one was alive. It shuffled through leaves, unaware that it was the unlucky target of his apprentice. Good job, he thought. Not too far now...

[atrb=border,0,true][cs=7][bg=101010] the count;; 242 the cat;; Ravenpaw the involved;; Pinestep the notes;; oooh a mouse
Ravenpaw pinned her ears back at Pinestep in fustraition. "First a dead vole then a-" Her ears perked up, and her mouth hung open. Ravenpaw got down, and slowly began moving through the brush. She picked up her tail this time, and moved slowly. Ravenpaw opened her mouth again, and then noted the mouse, another one. The same one she had failed to catch. It was pretty far away, so...
Ravenpaw got up, and walked a lttle bit, careful not to make a sound. Her tail was down, but the tip formed a U with the bottom half, and her soft paw pads trapped any noise. After about ten seconds of walking, saving herself a minute or so, Ravenpaw got back down. This time, her rump was a little bit in the air, as she moved slowly by. The mouse was right on top of a tree root. Ravenpaw unsheathed her claws, and didn't even have time to think.
She leaped forward, and bit the mouses neck. Her technique wasn't mastered. It squeaked, struggled a little bit. Ravenpaw suffocated it, and then noticed, proud that she had made her first catch. Just a mouse, but a mouse nonetheless.
She dropped the limp body to the ground, and then noticed a hole in the ground. The mouse was right next to its burrow. Luck had completely been on her side. And, StarClan. Thank you StarClan, she thought, for her first catch.

the Cat// Pinestep the Impressed the Noted// Woot woot good job! the Number// 206 Pinestep watched Ravenpaw as she carefully located the mouse. Getting down, her form was better, and she made little noise. She paused for a second, for what Pinestep assumed was evaluating the situation, and went a little bit a more forward. She was intent on catching it, as Pinestep imagined any apprentice would be at this point; as he remebered the satisfaction of his first catch as well.
Then, at the perfect place at the perfect time, she pounced. she grabbed it by the neck, though it flailed a little bit before it suffocated. "Good job, Ravenpaw! Your first catch, you should be very proud," he exclaimed. And it was true too, it often took cats more than two tries to get their first catch. He decided that she had good abilities.
"Ravenpaw, before I suggest something, may I ask you a question? Tell me, do you ever fight with your sister?" he asked, almost unexpectidly. He wanted to know, to help her. She looked startled in a way, and he decided that this was probably not the best time. "Never mind, you can answer that later." he told her, before asking another question.
"Now tell me, how would you like your first taste of fighting?"

[atrb=border,0,true][cs=7][bg=101010] the count;; 246 the cat;; Ravenpaw the involved;; Pinestep the notes;; :DDD
Ravenpaw purred, tail remaining limp, showing a content and comfortable position. She listened to his compliments, and then mewed, in her teenage voice: "Thank you,"
Ravenpaw liked Pinestep. No, not like Drydusk and Dustpaw. She liked the informality. With Shadestar, if she was Flamepaw, he'd be too rough, and demand too much respect. No, even though he was a warrior, Pinestep and her weren't quite friends, but they were pretty comfortable around eachother. Ravenpaw trusted the well-trained warrior, and was pleased Shadestar picked him.
He asked about if she had any fights with Flamepaw. She flexed her claws, collecting her thoughts. He then called it off. He must have remembered what happened. "She's stronger than me, but not smarter or anything. She likes to think she is, but I just think she's getting that from Shadestar," Ravenpaw meowed. "She's overly serious with fighting. Attacks me over a moss ball she wasn't really using,"
Ravenpaw stopped there, not wanting to go on. Instead, she decided to go with Pinestep's suggestion: Fighting. "Yeah, let's fight!" she purred, thinking of a good place to fight. "How about by the half-bridge, or by the boundary? The ground should be soft. And I'm sure I won't fall into the water, I've had my own fair share of bad luck.." Ravenpaw let out a 'mrrow' of laughter, and then sat, curling her tail around her paws, licking her lips.

the Cat// Pinestep the R/e/a/d/y t/o F/i/g/h/t the Noted// Hehe fight time! the Music// Eye of the Tiger by Surviver the Number// 243 Pinestep nodded. Maybe he could trai her to have a little confidence when it came to Ravenpaw's sister. Hmmm... he thought. Her suggestions were good, and he decided that the Half-bridge would probably be a good place, and voices his thoughts.
"Yeah, the Half-bridge would be good, if you want to try it there." he muttered, wondering what he was going to teach her. He himself had never had a very reliable mentor, and so he had had to watch others train, just to become a warrior. and a good one, at that. He walked along, following the route to the half-bridge. As Ravenpaw had expected, the ground was soft, and it would be the perfect place for training. He himself wasn't sure what exactly to do yet, and decided to surprise his apprentice. He jumped on her, claws obviously sheathed, and rolled her onto her back. Her eyes were filled with surprise and fear, like she had no clue what was happening. She probably didn't. "First rule: never let your guard down. A cat could attack you at any time, you never know." He stood over her, holding her down, and wondering if she would get it, the right choice. would she know to attack the stomach if she was in such a situation? "Okay Ravenpaw. I'm a cat attacking you in battle, and I've got you in this postion. What do you do?" [[occ~ Do you want to atcually continue this on the half-bridge, or stay in this topic?]]
