Addertongue's sleek black shape walked through the reeds as she hunted for fish. The lake was huge, and Addertongue could never even dream of swimming across it, but it was an amazing sight.
Addertongue sighed gently, before picking up a familiar scent. The Riverclan leader, Drowningstar. "What brings you here Drowningstar?" Addertongue asked, not moving her head from the fish.
She shot one paw in, and pulled a fish out. She killed it with one blow, and repeated. It was strange, Drowningstar wasn't answering. Addertongue pushed some sand onto her kill, and looked down the river.
Drowningstar was lying down. That wasn't the strange part though... She was soaked to the bone, and looed... Oddly bent. Addertongue couldn't bear to look at the she-cat as she took a few steps forward lightly.
"Please Drowningstar, this isn't funny!" The young warrior mewled, her blue eyes looking at the old she-cat. It couldn't possibly be... Drowningstar was... Was...
"NO!" Addertongue screamed, her voice carrying across the ake, and making birds screech and flee from the trees. Addertongue roared in grief, and pressed her nose into Drowningstar's soggy pelt.
"This... This... It can't... You shouldn't... Dr-Drowning-st-star..." Addertongue sobbed. Her body was cold, and everytime she pressed her nose against her fur, water seeped out.
"Pl-please... Y-you... Ca-can't be de-dead..." Addertongue mewled, her blue eyes stinging with tears. "No... I'm dreaming! I have to be!" Addertongue wailed, biting upon her paw. Blood dripped from it gently, and Addertongue let out a tormented wail.
