[atrb=border,0,true][cs=7][bg=000000] the count;; the cat;; Shadewing the involved;; Firepaw, Drydusk the notes;; i skipped a lot so we could get this done. [yeahyeah.. since you been gone..]
The soft and muffled sound of Shadewing's fluffy paw steps hitting the grass and dirt was the only sound to be heard, except for the crickets chirping in the night. Shadewing had spent a while hiking the territory, and sticking to the ThunderClan lakeside. Now, he could see the moonpool. It was almost unreal in the night. Shadewing was one of the cats who had found the moonpool, but he had never seen it at night before.
"Keep moving. I know you're likely tired, but push on.. the moonpool is just in the distance." Shadewing meowed, quite tired himself. They had been traveling since the noon without a break. Shadewing hoped that Ashenanarchy and Sandfire were watching the camp well.
Shadewing's mind was already starting to think of what he should do when he led ShadowClan. His heart thumped harder than his feet. So much he had to do, so much he could do.. was he just below StarClan now? Was he on level with StarClan? Could he be... better than StarClan, maybe? The last thought just made him grin on the inside. Just the thought of so much power...
Shadewing looked up, and didn't see the moonpool before him, not ever in his sight. His heart stopped for a moment. He turned around in his confusion, however, and saw the moonpool behind him. Shadewing almost laughed at his stupidity, but instead only shook his head, and walked back to it. He told his brother, half seriously, half jokingly: "Shut up."
Shadewing bent over, and took a breath. His black nose slowly dipped into the water, and his soft fur drooped down, just missing contact with the water. Just before Shadewing went to close his eyes, he took one look at the Moonpool. Magnificent wouldn't even compromise with what he saw the sight as. The pool was nearly blueish black, and he could see each star in Silverpelt reflected down into the pool. His mouth hung open for one moment in amazement, though his head remained sill above the pool.
Slowly, he saw a face of each cat he had known appear. The first was a black and white cat. The next was a ginger tabby. Another, a tiny brown tabby. Pure gray cat. Orange and white tiny cat. A black cat with amber eyes. A cream colored cat . An ebony black cat with blue eyes. Last, in the middle of them all, a huge looming shadow of black, darker than anything Shadewing had ever seen before, faded in. There were small blue slits, and suddenly, his eyes opened, and all of the cats seemed to stare at Shadewing. Shadewing felt himself jerk forward, dreamily. He then began his dream with StarClan

Shadewing woke, finding himself on dirt ground, little patches of grass all around him. There were a few pines dotted around, but the stars, and the extremely dreamlike quality to the place made Shadewing sure that it was StarClan. "I'm here to receive my nine lives!" the fluffy black cat announced. His voice only echoed. "..Hello?" he said, after all sound had disappeared. Suddenly, there was an eruption of fire, and Shadewing felt his fur get very hot. His muzzle stung, though this fire didn't seem to harm him. Suddenly, it died down. Confused by this, Shadewing called out again: "Hello! Somebody!"
There was a moment where he thought he was imprisoned in the Dark Forest. Had something gone wrong? Why was nobody there? Shadewing was clueless as the reasons behind all of this. Suddenly, the ground got a bit more lush, and he saw cats before him.
A pure black cat with blue eyes, wholly darker than anything stood. He slowly closed his eyes, and then reopened them, looking at Shadewing. "Finally, the new leader of ShadowClan has arrived. Let the ceremony begin," There was a pause, and several other cats appeared, but they were only shadow's in the night of StarClan.
"Shadewing, you may not know me, but I indeed know you," he padded towards Shadewing, and sat before him, tail curled about his paws. "I am Skywalk, medicine cat of ShadowClan before you were born," Shadewing nodded respectfully at Skywalk. "I will give you your first life." He stood up, and got very close to Shadewing, almost close enough to touch pelts. Shadewing didn't like the feeling, but he stayed put, and didn't say a thing.
"Shadewing, with this life, I give you the power and reminder to make the right decisions for your clan!" With this, Skywalk ran his fur across Shadewing's black fur. Shadewing felt a pain like several bee stings, and he cringed for a moment. When Shadewing turned his head to look at Skywalk, he was gone.
Next, a black and white cat came out of the crowd of eight. She had a sweet scent to her, and star-like shapes were glowing in her fur. Right away, Shadewing recognized her.
"Skycloud! Mother!" he exclaimed, running towards her. They quickly touched muzzles, and then they both backed away.
"Shadewing, with this life I give you understanding. Even a rouge can bring greatness to the clan, can he not?" Shadewing looked down at his paws, and bowed his head as his mother walked over. She rested her muzzle on the back of his neck, and a feeling like breaking bones went through his body. There was an aching feeling, and then it waned off.
Next was a ginger tabby. "I am Rednose, warrior of ShadowClan. With this life, I give you the ability to serve your clan with everything you can give," There was a feeling of electricity that jolted through Shadewing's body, and anger roared through his body for a moment. Then, he felt nothing. The cat nodded his head, and slowly faded.
Then, a tiny kit, no older than four moons, stumbled forward. "I'm Cherishkit! I died before I gotta be a mommy, but if you became a daddy I'd be just as proud! I'll give you the life of caring and protecting every kit and cat, your clan or not!" Shadestar felt a warm feeling within him, that quickly turned too hot, and he yowled with pain like fire. The kit was gone.
Next was a pure gray cat. "My name is Terntalon, senior warrior of ShadowClan, before you were born. However, I come here today to give you a life. I give you the life of pity. Some cats are born helpless, with a terrible fate. Help them through this, and make ShadowClan feared and respected, like TigerClan wished!" With that, Shadewing felt a wave of pain wash over him, which quickly faded away.
There was another tiny kit, and Shadewing know he was forgetting how many kits died early. "I'm Mosskit! With this life, I, uh, let you care for the wounded, and respect others!" Shadewing felt the pain of a wound being opened, and he cringed in pain.
Next was a black cat with amber eyes. "I am Nightshade. With this life, I give you power and strength, and a soul that nobody can break or change but yourself. Stay strong," With this, Shadestar felt himself unable to breath. Nightshade turned around, and stalked towards the shadows. He turned his head a little, and.. was there a grin? Nevertheless, Nightshade was soon gone.
A cream colored cat stepped out of the shadows. "I am Harefoot. With this life, I give you quick wit and cleverness. Use this to get your clan out of bad situations, and never forget it. Never."
All of the cats had faded, and one big cat remained, with all other cats behind him. Shadewing knew who it was-- Crowstar! He anticipated him coming, but here he was, to approve of Shadewing, and let all of his lives be given. "Crowstar," Shadewing said, closing his eyes, trying to remain calm.
"Shadewing, I hope I made the right choice between you and your brother." Crowstar said calmly, his body as majestic as it had been the first time he had returned as leader. "With your last life, I give you acceptance: there may be bad cats out there, but not all are bad. Let them into your clan, and make Shadowclan strong as it once was." Crowstar said, laying his head on his deputys shoulder.
Shadewing winced as he felt the worst pain of all; it was a dark pain, in the pit of his stomach. He cried out, and it stopped when Crowstar disappeared. Around him, cats appeared, stars dotted in their pelts.
"Shadestar... Shadestar..."] Came their eerie call, and behind the cats stood Crowstar, looking down at his deputy. His voice rang in Shadestar's ears.
"Take care of my clan."
