Angels Never Fade Away... Kitten:; Nightstar the dead Involved:; StarClan Music:; Don't You Cry by Kamelot, When the Lights are Down by Kamelot Words:; 1341 Notes:; I have a little sub plot I am discussing with Shady on Nightstar. Lol.
Her orange gems were just specks in the vast distance of thee forest she was hunting, no, not hunting, searching. Her black maw was open, tasting the air. It was stagnant, in a sense. No actual wind blew, and her fur never moved an inch unless it was cause by her own black pelted form. She padded forward a few steps to find a small puddle, in which she looked in. At first, the black she-cat was confused. There was stars in her fur! Then she remembered. An inconceivable weight of guilt, fear, rage, and anxiety swept over her. Those were soon washed away to be replaced by regret with a slight flash of her fiery eyes. She let in a breath, then let it out, trying to calm herself. She had just died. Twilightstar and Midnightmoon had guided her now starry paws here, but as soon as she stepped on the soft grass of StarClan's hunting grounds with a crunch, they disappeared, leading her alone. To wallow in her own misery, or rather to let her get used to the sites she wasn't sure.
She looked to the blue lit sky above. It was dark, but the tinge gave the sense of stars, even though she knew she herself was just a star in the sky now, watching over her WindClan warriors in the living world. Thinking of her warriors, the image of Orangesky flashed into her mind. Naming him her deputy was not only based on logic that he himself was a natural born leader who saw every side of a situation, but she had come to realize that she loved him. Making him deputy was not only based on the logic, but also on her own emotions. Becoming emotionally compromised as the leader did not last long, for in her attempts to get Shadestar to see sense, she had bled out her life blood on the ShadowClan camp, forever staing the grass with her blood. Shadestar, the fool! He was a thick headed, power hungry, flea bag, bitch ass of a leader who didn't care a lick of what his own warriors thought! Warriors are the lifeblood of a Clan, and he can;t seem to get that through his thick skull as the rogues he took into his clan to help his warrior is ending up killing them!
Her black claws chewed the grass at her feet as she got lost in her own thoughts. Shortly before the battle, he had Orangesky in her private little space discussing the battle and her own concerns of the clan. He had not been deputy at the time, but she was more of assessing his thoughts on the situation to see how well he might possibly do. Then her thoughts drifted more as she rememebered what had transpired after the discussing was over. They had mated twice, one session right after the other. In her own opinion, it had been wonderful. At the time, she had not thought about the consequences of her possibly getting pregnant, but now she was glad she had done it. If she had refused him, and her own gut feeling and hormones, she would have died without ever knowing what mating was like. In her own defense though, she had a feeling that that day was going to be her last in the waking world she knew as the lake territories.
Suddenly, a scent came to her. It was etched into her every fiber who this cat was, but she still slightly jumped as a silver tabby with clear blue eyes disguised as stars stepped up from behind a bush near to the pool she was sitting in front of. The stars in the tabby's fur shone brightly, and only seemed to announce more proudly who this cat was. This was Twilightstar, leader of WindClan before the black she-cat sitting by the pool, and also the black she-cat's mother. Twilightstar spoke softly, finally revealing the black cat's identity to be who the black she-cat herself thought and knew that she was. "Nightstar, my daughter... Ah, how you look wonderful with the stars in your fur... It is regrettable what has happened to you, as it was for myself when I was murdered. When StarClan warned me I would bemurdered by someone in my Clan, I had no idea it was to be your own father."
Nightstar flinched as Twilightstar called that horrible tom her father. She spoke out against her mother's talk, defying him. "Mother, he never was and certainly never will be claimed as my father. I killed him because he killed you, and in the process he tried to rape me. Do you know how that felt, to be betrayed by one everyone knew was the tom who made you be, but yet you will never claim that tom as your father, and you have to equally betray him back for what he did?" she meowed softly, breathing in her mother's sweet scent. Twilightstar had never smelled this way in life, and in so, Nightstar had never expected to smell this on her now. It must have been the smell of StarClan. Who knew? Certainly some StarClan cats would. She made a mental note behind her burning gems to ask later. Now though, her every call was trained on Twilightstar. Twilightstar nodded, flicking her tail.
"Suite yourself, Nightstar. But before we get itno this argument any longer, shall we?" Twilightstar pointed with her silver tabby tail to the pool in front of her. Without waiting for an answer, the senior StarClan cat stepped beside Nightstar, and commanded her to watch carefully. Nightstar did so as her mother softly stirred the top of the pool with her striped tail. Ripples insued from the elder cat's touch, and from those ripples burst forth bountiful blurs of both dull and bright colors as they quickly came into focus. She was looking upon the WindClan camp. Her former home, the home she would always watch over and protect from now on. Her orange gaze immediately flicked to Orangesky - the new leader, and coincidentally the cat she had mated with shortly before she died- and her gaze stayed straine don him, only to notice Dustfeather talking with him. Her fur bristled slightly in jealousy until she realized that Dustfeather was only voicing her concerns about Nightstar's own death and how she felt responsible for it. Nightstar's movements did not go unnoticed by her mother who studied her daughter with a very critical and analytical gaze as Nightstar took in the scene playing out in front of her. Finally, Nightstar looked away after surveying the damage to her warriors from the battle.
Her own internal feelings were battling for control before she meowed "Enough. I know how to watch over my clan now and will do so in due time. For now, I would like to meet the other cats who have fallen and made their way here as I have. The morbid scene that played before me was enough to make me regret that I took my clan into battle against FireClan at all, but I know my clan is in good hands." She stood up, her black form now facing away from her mother. Twilightstar stood herself and nodded. "This way then, since you are finished looking upon your clan for the time being. Many cats wish to meet you, and I know a certain three who I know you want to meet after all these moons. When Orangesky has made his journey to the Moonpool, we will both give him a life, but that in itself is simple enough." She walked off, leaving the black she-cat behind. After a few minutes had passed, Nightstar turned and followed her mother's staling scent through the underbrush to meet the other StarClan cats.
