[atrb=border,0,true][cs=7][bg=cb7f4c] Kit: Redeyes the ambitious and Dustpaw the terrified Words: 222 Notes: With Dolphinfeet and Whisper. Drydusk to the rescue plz Remember that Dustpaw loves Drydusk ;D
Not a cat dared come near him as he and his two compadré's sauntered into Shadowclan camp. "I wish to speak to your leader. Crowstar, or did the old man die?" Redeyes mewled nonchalontly. "We of Fireclan know of your ambition. I have come with a request of alliance, so Shadowclan and Fireclan can rule the territory forever."
Redeyes grinned/ "We also have another request for all the she-cats to come out of their dens, or else be killed by the whole of Fireclan. And, we brought a prisoner to sweeten the deal. Little Dust, I believe she is of your clan, yes?"
Flicking his tail, a small, skinny, and malnourished thing fell forward, her sparkling green eyes looking around fearfully. "Mama? Papa?" She asked timidly, green eyes looking around the camp. She'd never been here before; was it really the Shadowclan camp. She couldn't smell her father, and she could see a flicker of ginger pelt in the nursery.
"You will comply or we will kill this apprentice in front of her mother right here, right now." |
Redeyes smirked, pressing his paw into the apprentices head, shoving her face in the dirt. [/blockquote]

Words: 321
Poppyclaw's orange pelt shot out of the nursery in a second, and she went up to her daughter who had been missing for some moons. "Dustpaw! My little girl!" She smacked Redeyes' paws away from Dustpaw , and looked him staright in the eyes. Her green eyes were hard, strong, and confident. "Keep your paws of my daughter, and all my children for that matter! Crowstar died the night his last litter was born, you fool. Shadestar leads the clan now." Her voice had been a strong his and she spat in Redeyes' face, and stalked off towards the nursery with Dustpaw, and her current litter walked out to meet her.
Flamekit was almost an apprentice, so she really didn't need to stay in the nursery, but she did anyways for her mother's sake, and when her mother shot out of the nursery, she had followed her out and stayed by the entrance when she saw the menacing cat who held down a cat that looked like her mother. Then, she heard the name her mother had been speaking for so many moons. Dustpaw was home. Poppyclaw and Dustpaw came back to the nursery entrance, and she gave a small hello to her older sibling.
Dreambreaker's calico pelt walked out of the medicine cat's den. She had wanted to make sure everything felt alright in her uterus, before she made her decision whether or not to have kits again. She didn't want to have a live kit and die like her mother had, but there was a strong possibility she would die if she gave birth to a live kit. She had walked out just in time to see the scene with Poppyclaw, Dustpaw, and Redeyes transpire, and she thought to herself I sure am glad Poppyclaw is a lot braver than myself. She must have learned that courage when Crowstar was still alive.

[atrb=border,0,true][cs=7][bg=171717] the count;; 529 the cat;; Shadestar the involved;; ShadowClan the notes;;
Shadestar came out of his den, after hearing a cat give orders. Before Shadestar was detected by Redeyes, he hid back in his den. He then jumped up, though the pine needles, and right into a bare, high branch. The black cat examined the cats who had come with Redeyes. He didn't recognize any of them, but the bigger of the two looked very tough. The other looked.. rather.. scrawny and weak. Hm. Only those? Easy as killing a kitty-pet.
Shadestar narrowed his eyes at the cats, who arrived. They spoke of an alliance, something Shadestar could very easily comply with. But, sharing the territory, with two leaders? Shadestar would have to think about that.
"We also have another request for all the she-cats to come out of their dens, or else be killed by the whole of Fireclan."
A growl rumbled in Shadestar's throat. He knew that Redeyes was known for force-breeding with females, along with his dead deputy, Crueleye. He's going to stay away from my queens. He doesn't breed without my say-so. I'm the leader here, that's my job!
"..and, we brought a prisoner to sweeten the deal. Little Dust, I believe she is of your clan, yes?"
Shadestar could barely recognize the shame of a cat that came forward next. She was starved, and looked ready to drop dead at any moment. His eyes widened as he recognized the cat. Dustpaw! Crowstar's daughter! Oh, thank StarClan she's back..
"You will comply or we will kill this apprentice in front of her mother right here, right now." This made Shadestar's eyes narrow again.
What he did next was totally disrespectful, and made Shadestar's lips twitch, and his fur raise. A white paw came down on Dustpaw's face, shoving it downwards, into the root-filled dirt of ShadowClan camp.
Now, it was Poppyclaw who ran over, and took her kit from Redeyes. Poppyclaw! You fool! Shadestar mentally yowled, staring at her for a moment. His ears flickered like leaves in the breeze, and adverted his gaze back to Redeyes.
"Poppyclaw is right. Crowstar has been dead for quite some time. I, Shadestar, am now the new leader of ShadowClan," Shadestar stood tall, but his fur was poofed, making him look even bigger than usual. He glanced his cold, hard, dead serious gaze at Poppyclaw. She was most likely relying on her instincts, but Shadestar would need to control her, to keep everyone safe. "Poppyclaw, return here with Dustpaw!" Shadestar ordered, waiting for the queen to comply.
Shadestar got down from his branch, and hopped over his den, clearing it completely. He prowled forward towards Redeyes. He bared his teeth, as he hissed: "Redeyes, if you came here to start a fight, you're outnumbered. With you and the other cat, who may be as strong as one warrior, and that tiny kit who could be crushed by any of our apprentices, you'd fail your battle rather quickly.."
Shadestar kept staring the white cat in the eyes. "I shall summon my queens. But you may not touch them without my say-so. If you do so, I'll use that soft, pure white fur of yours as a nice piece of moss to sleep on," the black cat hissed deeply, turning up his head. "All she-cats who are not heavily pregnant, come out of your dens, and stand by me!" he ordered, and then looked back at Redeyes, awaiting what he would say.

[atrb=border,0,true][cs=7][bg=cb7f4c] Kit: Redeyes the ambitious and Dustpaw the terrified, Morningcloud the scared, Crowkit the brave Words: 520 Notes: Shadestar underestimates Redeyes
"You underestimate my cats Shadestar." Redeyes curled his lips into a smile. "Do you not remember? When the old fool Crowstar brought me into his clan?" Redeyes cackled. "I took one of his lives. I believe you are a better leader. Younger, stronger."
Redeyes sat down calmly, not at all phased by all the staring cats, especially not Poppyclaw, and then he saw a small black kit come out of the nursery, his eyes wide with amazement. So, Starclan had sent Crowstar back to live life again? Redeyes would have cackled again, but started inspecting the females.
There was one silver tabby who stuck close to Shadestar, her purple eyes wide with fright. "I see she is your mate. I will not touch her, you have my word." Redeyes grinned. "And you no longer need to worry about the stupid Crueleye. His own daughter murdered him. I had no need for him anymore. He was just too.. Pushy. I would have killed him myself, had Nightstar not done me a favour." |
Redeyes licked his lips as he inspected the females. They were all beautiful, and would produce amazing kits. Why, Shadestar. I know of Shadowclan's ambitions. Surely an alliance would make you stronger than all of the other puny clans. You could take their territory with the help of my warriors. They may seem like kittypets, but they are fearless cats who have killed many a dog and cat that has strayed upon our territory." Redeyes grinned. A slight breeze blew through camp. "Rest assured, I shall not kill any of your strong boys, or mate with anyone under 12 moons." Redeyes said, smiling once again. This was going to be a sweet deal indeed. "Your mate shall not be touched either. I shall see to that myself. Anyone who does touch her apart from yourself shall lose an ear." Redeyes let out a yawn, eyes flashing. "I also have a request to make. I have two sisters, Twixpaw and Troublepaw - no doubt they'll be warriors by now - in Thunderclan. I want you to send a party of Shadowclan and Fireclan cats so we may rescue them, and any kits they may have produced." Redeyes said. "I always thought Patchstar was an old fool. As was my father, Ionstar. I just want my dear sisters to have abetter clan than what they live in; Thunderclan is a clan of kittypets and loners." Each she-cat made Redeyes' fur stand on end. Oh, he wanted to take them on here and now, but he had to restrain himself. If Shadestar did attack, Redeyes would be able to take a few of his lives, as well as the lives of the kits. If he chose to ally, he'd leave, and return with his band of warriors and harem of she-cats. [/blockquote]

[atrb=border,0,true][cs=7][bg=171717] the count;; 532 the cat;; Shadestar the involved;; ShadowClan, Redeyes. the notes;; Shadestar does not 100 percent agree >D
Shadestar shook his head. "We cannot attack ThunderClan just yet, however. At the gathering, Patchstar was looking after Troubleseeker. Yes, they're both mates now. Silktail, mates with Twinetail, wouldn't expect anything." The black leader paused, and he soon had an idea. He didn't want to share with FireClan, and he was going to make it clear to his Clan that Redeyes wouldn't get all he wanted. "However, at the next gathering, one of my warriors can go in my place, saying I am sick. We can then go to ThunderClan camp, and retrieve your siblings,"
Shadestar didn't want his Clan to sound weak. The sickness had killed many of his cats, and it had taken a huge toll on ShadowClan. I'll keep Redeyes here for now.. When we're back on our feet, I'll slit his, and any of his nasty tom's throats.
What if I find you pushy after all of this is said and done? May I kill you? Shadewing almost said, but he stopped himself before the first letter could form. I don't want to take territory.. I just want to be a better leader. I only wanted to kill in battle. I wanted to feel the power of a leader in my paws. Maybe I should just step down before anything happens. I shouldn't do this. StarClan, the right thing to do would be to just turn him away, right? Or just kill him before he thinks a thing? His mother was a female cat.. how must he hate them so?
"Good. If any of your warriors touch Morningcloud, the deal's off. I'll slit their throats, and rip one of your ears to remember why you won't let it happen again," Shadestar growled. "My she-cats aren't free for the taking either. They're warriors, and they have a use to fight and to hunt, rather than to produce kits that we just can't feed. If you're going to mate with them, you cannot hurt them. As well, if a queen has kits, you cannot kill their kits to mate with them again. You must wait until the kits are apprentices, so the queen can recover."
Shadestar was completely against using his females as toys for Redeyes, but he would need to let him have something to keep the alliance going. "If this alliance is faulty, I will send you right back to the shitty slums of FireClan." Shadestar hissed. The morning sun was quickly fading. "It is not safe to travel in the day. Roll in ShadowClan scent, and then travel along the bay. Cats traveling along the lake cannot be hurt by other Clans. You may stay here until night. However, today, you may only breed with willing females. Good luck finding those," Shadestar swished his tail, showing that he wasn't afraid of this cat, nor was he happy with all aspects of the deal he was handing over. Mousedung! I really hope that the queens don't turn on me.. I'm doing the best I can..

Kittens: Poppyclaw, Dreambreaker, Ashenanarchy, Flamekit. Words: 422
Poppyclaw's ginger pelt bristled at what Shadestar ordered her to do, and she very reluctantly stood again and took hr older daughter, Dustpaw, with her right beside Shadestar. "I hope you know what you're doing, cause I wll NEVER mate with that...that...thing! Nor will I let my daughters. If he lays a hand on either myself or my daughters, I WILL strike, and there is nothing you can do to stop me. I've already lost my mate, don't expect me to lose myself and my daughters to a cat like him." She hissed softly at her leader when she got to his side.
Flamekit, almost an apprentice now, knew the position her mother was putting herself in to protect her children and herself, and the rest of the clan as well, if she could. She was like a mini Crowstar in the way she was trying to take care of every cat she could until she basically collapsed. Then, she spoke up. "Shadestar, " her melodic voice went to Shadestar's ears, and may have went to Redeyes', but she really didn't care. "What do you expect the females to do? Drop down and let him mount? I'm sorry to say, but like my mother implied, some females just won't do that. Excuse me for being blunt, but theere's just one problem to your plan. Some she-cats just don't want kits, and if kits are forced upon them just for this silly alliance, you may not be the leader for them. Just look at poor Dreambreaker! She looks horrified. You know she bore all stillborne kits, and she's afraid she'll be like her mother. You know how Pinesong died, don't you? Don't make her go through that. She doesn't want to give birth to a live kit and die, just like Pinesong did. Just ask Ashenanarchy!"
Ashenanarchy had snuck out while the negotiations were going on, and was glad Morningcloud would not be touched. "Flamekit is right, Shadestar. I have inspected Dreambreaker, and though she is stronger than hat her mother was, from what I can tell, she will most likely die if she gives birth to a live kit, and even then, it is still very painful for a queen, both physically and mentally, to give birth to an entire litter of stillborne kits, let alone one or two in a litter of live kits. I just hope you know what you're doing, Shadestar."

Shadestar faced his cats, fur fluffing up. He narrowed his eyes at him, and bared his teeth. "I am ShadeSTAR! I am the leader here! You will not change my opinion on any of this! This could be one of the best opportunities ShadowClan has ever had!" he hissed, staring at all of the cats. "I shall keep the toms away from Dreambreaker. And I know some queens won't want to give kits! But, its for the best. ShadowClan needs more cats. Too many have died from our sickness. I'm not going to let a few cats stand in the way of ShadowClan's dream!"
Shadestar unsheathed his claws. "Step back, and give us leaders some space. We're working things out,"
This is too easy. I don't want to do this. I knew that there are sacrifices as a leader, but, foxdung, I sure didn't expect this! Maybe I can convert FireClan to the good side, make them believe in StarClan and some parts of the Warrior Code. I'm not asking for too much. Hopefully this is something that will come with time.. Something that will come rather fast!

[[Short exiting post, sorry.]]
Poppyclaw's ginger tabby fur bristled at Shadestar, and he gave his final verdict. She didn't like it, but she would live with it. She turned away sharply, and alled Flamekit, and Flamekit followed. Over her shoulder she hollered loudly, "Crowstar wouldn't have done this. He knew what was best for his clan! He died to young, and left someone about as old as him in his place. He's trusting you with what is best for ShadowClan, and I can tell you right now. Crowstar wouldn't have believed this best. TYou better watch your back, because I know for one thing that's certain. I will be on your tail, constantly trailing you, till you sweat. And Redeyes' is no LEADER! He's just a big scared white cat who's hardly the age of a warrior who is leading cats out of fear, not loyalty. Redeyes' is just a great big bully. I hope your eye's turn soon, Shadestar, or this could become very bad." With that, she stalked into the nursery with her kits in tow.

[atrb=border,0,true][cs=7][bg=cb7f4c] Kit: Redeyes the ambitious Words: 474 Notes: ORLY
"Worry not Poppyclaw. I have plenty of harlot's back in my clan. A lot of the cats I have are former cats of this clan, especially some young kits. Some of my males stole them, and I told them not to. I still do have the heart of a clan cat; I care for my clan, I help raise the apprentices, I hunt for our queens, and I still care dearly for my lovely sisters." Redeyes grinned. "Crowstar is dead. Accept it. Shadestar is the leader, and the leader's word is the warrior code."
Redeyes still had it. He could still remember the weak and foolish warrior code. Shadowclan had no need to follow it; it was stupid, silly, abnormal too. Fireclan had many, many cats. Strong, bulky warriors, females ready to produce many kits, and most of them willing, after having given up hope of escape. Licking a paw and running it over his head, redeyes looked at Shadestar with piercing yellow orbs.
"Shadestar, you want blood in your clan, yes? New blood, you lost a lot of cats to the sickness. I lost a lot of cats too. But I have strong and bold warriors who would fight for anyone who I say they should follow. Some of them may be rogues, some may be kittypets, others may be loners, but, we have taught them to follow the ways of our own little code of sorts." Redeyes looked at Whisper.
"Come now Whisper, surely you have something to say? After all, several cats told me of your own code you follow strictly to. You care for our queen's, take care of the kits, watch out for the apprentices, and hunt for our clan like a true warrior." Redeyes smiled at his warrior, who seemed small, soft, timid.
"To be honest, the look of some of your she-cats makes me feel like I'm at home again. I see cats that i've seen at gatherings; my, how you've grown." |
Redeyes closed his eyes and gave a hearty laugh. "Shadowclan was supposed to be the strongest clan, the ones who are the most ruthless. I have the strong warriors, the ones willing to do anything for their leader. You have the lives of a leader, Shadestar." Redeyes grinned. "If this alliance was to go ahead, Fireclan would join with Shadowclan so you would become the strongest clan in the forest... Much like Tigerstar's Shadowclan." Redeyes grinned. "But without that naggy Scourge, or stupid Firestar to ruin it all. If this alliance goes ahead; nothing could stop us." [/blockquote]

Shadestar looked at Poppyclaw, and then swivled his head back, showing that he was ignoring her. His ear twitched. "I have two eyes, Poppyclaw," he said as she left.
"You may only mate with your females who want to mate. From what you describe, you should have more than enough cats to keep you happy, am I right?" Shadestar told Redeyes. "Not all of my females want your blood in them. Trust me, if they aren't lining up to mate with me, their leader, they certainly won't be lining up to mate with you. Both of us could rule, but only if we use cats in all the ways they can. I don't want a gang bang on my females. They have their own things. Unlike yours, none of them are kittypets who can't produce kits. They have better tasks within my Clan, than to rot in the nursery, pumping out kits. They have jobs here,"
Shadewing stepped back. "I would like your cats to stay in the prisoner's den. If you have come here to not cause trouble, you would not mind staying in there to rest. When you bring all of your cats, they will go to the assigned dens. The harem shall sleep with the warriors, and our dens will be expanded. The harem would be best off doing warrior tasks as well. You may still breed with your own, there will just be too many mouths to feed," Shadewing closed his ice blue eyes, and then reopened them, thinking to himself for a few moments.
".. and Firestar, Tigerstar, Scourge.. those are but a fairy tale,"

Acceptance. That was what constantly filled Drydusk's mind. No matter what bothered him, he pressed it back with a certain, but bitter, acceptance. Whatever happened, it was Starclan's will. He had forced himself to be happy for his brother- Starclan would be proud of his patience. He wouldn't wish his brother dead, and consitering nine against one- and a deputy in his way- he knew he would never be leader.
Nightshade would be disappointed if he knew just how beaten Drydusk felt. All of these thoughts wound around his mind. He accepted the idea that his mentor would be disappointed in him. But there was nothing he could do... He hadn't a heart dark enough to be as murderous as some of his clan, alive or not, were fabled to. He carried a toad by the foot, daintly in his mouth.
He wasn't on hunting patrol or anything, he had just left to wander. The loyal warrior would not return empty pawed, of course, so he had stopped to hunt- caught a frog, and found something disturbing. The scent of Fireclan in his territory made him stop hunting and head straight for camp, trailing the whole scent there. He even imagined Dustpaw's scent among them, but the smothering of twoleg and tom-scent that burned his senses made him figure it was all lies.
Drydusk pushed through camp, hearing his brother speaking. He froze, only a paw inside of his main camp. His voice shook, shuttered, and failed him completely. He squeaked like a mouse, dropping his kill. He had not been mistaken. His apprentice... The growing-out-of-kithood she-cat who was his to teach the ways of the warrior, stood foxlengths away, with Fireclan toms, her mother, his brother, and the clan gathering... Threats in their very scent.
He bolted into a full blown sprint, to Dustpaw. No one was going to stop him, he wound around cats without a single pause. They would have to wait for him to blaze past their trail before continuing around his leader. He failed to meow her name again. He was so alarmed... He had accepted her lost, perhaps even in sent to Starclan, if they could have found her when she died.
He had accepted that. And suddenly it had changed. Drydusk's claws ripped into the ground and he halted, paws splayed far apart in his stop. He was a mouse whisker from her very fur when he had finally stopped... And when he had, when he had he lurched forward, pushing a nose into her shoulder, as gently as a stunned, alarmed, protective tom could.
"Dustpaw," he sputtered, his blue eyes shifting to Poppyclaw, her mother, and the younger sibling of Dustpaw. He looked at her again, her fur matted, her eyes sparkling though not quite as bright as he remembered. He ran a tongue over her shoulder, determinded to make ammends. If he hadn't been so accepting, he could have- he should have looked for her, found her, and brought her home himself.
He realized he must have made a bit of a scene, but somehow, even as he felt the irrating itch of eyes on him, his mind had removed every other cat from his sight- besides the gaze of Poppyclaw, his apprentice, and his own muzzle. His soft blue eyes scanned his once little apprentice. She was just as small as before, a bit skinnier but her frame grown a little. He was so proud of her- just for her existance. His pride was as strong as it had been when he had become a warrior... And that was saying something.
"You came back," he breathed, "you're here. You're okay. Thank Starclan."
