Cat: Winterwind the K_L_U_T_Z
Words: 431
Notes: Aw geez, that's one fat bunny...
Winterwind was heading back to camp, content with his catch. Only a regular rabbit; nothing special about it, but he wasn't fussing. Well, he was content, of course, until he saw another rabbit. The only thing about this rabbit was the fact that it was fat.
He dropped his rabbit, his attention now turned on what he had set in his mind, the rabbit. My dinner, he thought.
It was sitting there, nibbling on a bit of clover. It was obviously unaware of him, and he dropped into a hunters crouch. Easy dinner, to be more precise, he thought. He slowly moved forward, watching for it's reaction. He rustled a leaf, and the rabbit pricked it's ears. It knew he was there.
He started running, and picked up the pace until he was sprinting. He was gaining ground on the rabbit, and he was only a few tail-lengths away when he fell.
He had tripped when he misplaced his foot and landed in an abandoned rabbit's hole.
"No!" he shouted. The rabbit darted underground, and he had lost his dinner.
That could have been such an easy catch too.
He growled to himself, wondering how he could make such a stupid mistake. He felt fine, the only thing hurt was his pride. He walked back, trying to find his other rabbit, and wishing that something good would happen.
He grabbed his rabbit, still grumbling about his loss. Oh well, it could have been worse, he thought. He began walking back to camp, and he was upset. He felt like he had just wasted five minutes of his life. Of course, they were five minutes that were spent living, but still...
He moped back, pushing it out of his head. That's when he looked up and saw something else. Another rabbit. Not as fat, but good looking, and he felt twice as hungry. This one had not yet noticed him, and he wasn't about to give up another kill. He crept forward until he was only a few fox-lengths away, and then he raced.
He pounced on it and swiftly killed it, thanking Starclan for it's life. At least now I can go back more satisfied than before... he thought.
He had been successful in getting food fr his clan, and for that he was grateful.
