[twilight]
Ashenpaw, the ash colored siamese medicine cat apprentie of ShadowClan, trotted into camp, and poked his head into the medicine cat den. He called out his mentor's name, as if she were his own mother. "Sandfire? Can I talk with you and Blackpaw?" He had some things he wanted to talk about, but he wasn't exactly sure of anything. His ice blue gaze wandered around the medicine cat den. He opened his maw and scented the fresh and maybe not so fresh herbs, awaiting Sandfire's reply. He swished his ash color tail around in anticipation as to what he wantyed to talk about. This sickness had claimed many cats, and he knew at some point the would have to call it something... He flicked his ears back and forth, in wonderment and in puzzlement. Many things were rushing through his head. The Great Sickness, as he subconciously called it, was seceding, that he knew and was glad of.

[atrb=border,0,true][cs=7][bg=47e32d] Kit - Dustpaw the nosy bugger Words - 133 Muse - Feh. Notes - Advertising is boring... I'mma post instead!
The small, six moon old bundle had followed Ashenpaw after asking Drydusk if she could. The little orange fluff ball watched him intently; he didn't know how lucky he was. She'd always wanted to be the Medicine Cat, but, he had been born first, she couldn't stop that from happening.
The she-cat listened to him after he called out to Sandfire. This was something about the sickness, and Dustpaw was being a nosy little bugger - as usual.

[atrb=border,0,true][cs=7][bg=CC7722]Sandfire had been busy as usual. She always kept herself busy, it was always such an easy thing to do. Her brother Stripetail was getting worse, and the warning for Blackpaw was getting more and more worrysome that if she didn't keep herself busy she might snap. Her mind was in a daze from the flingingly rapid thoughts- cobwebs, poppyseeds, horsetail- how much they had how much they needed when they could go get it how much the territory could offer them who needed what what need who... and her apprentice. She was lucky he had learned so fast, it was hard to even think straight, and if she had to teach him then she might fall head over heels tripping over this workload.
Speaking of her apprentice, his voice caught her ear and she looked over at him, her pelt quivering, and she looked away, glancing at her storage of herbs with thoughts again when he mentioned Blackpaw. There was a hesitant pause, like a mother would do if she was busy and didn't really want to talk but was putting her kit before anything else. Even if she didn't see Ashenpaw like that- he was just a brillant cat with a heart of gold. "Oh, yeah, sure. We can talk. About what?" Mind, little Blackpaw wasn't there to talk about and she would have to be fetched by someone, but she was pretty sure that she was much to busy to be thinking about that. [Admittedly, Blackpaw and her worries always lingered in her mind, she just prefered to drown them out.] |

[atrb=border,0,true][cs=7][bg=000000]I had my ears pinned back, she-cat was only pawsteps away now... Only pawsteps... Closer, closer... My blue eyes narrowed and I swished her tonuge over my lips pretending my she-cat sibling was a mouse. My rump wiggled a little in the air, and I paused for a second, waiting for the right second. My leg muscles tensed and then I tore through the ground, blasting forward in a short burst of speed, trying to tackle over Dustpaw- who was being silly, staring off at the medicine cat den.
"Boo!" I mewled, battering her over ear with a few friendly pawswipes. Dustpaw, my denmate, was a much newer apprentice than me. I was a lot more experienced, and that made me a lot brighter- but we were siblings and I wanted to play. So I did, pretty much, but that's what she got for being offguard! Plus I was bored. Maybe we could go out hunting! That would be great, if our mentors took us out to go hunting together! Like a patrol, that would be fun! Plus, we needed more prey anyway. |

[twilight]
"Different things really." He mewed, and give his mentor a reassuring smile. His blue eys portryaed happiness, and a little confusion. Then, he heard Blackpaw racing towards Dustpaw. He flicked his gaze to the side of his head, flicking his ears backwards. He gave a little laugh. "Well, Dustpaw, that's what you get for trying to eavesdrop. In fact, you can come along. I was wanting to speak with Blackpaw as well." With that he stood up, looked back at his mentor and nodded his head at her, mouthing, 'Burnt Ash?' He wanted to hold his conference out of camp, were it would be harder for eavesdropping cats in dens to hear their conversation. This was basically a private matter between medicine cats and a few cats close to the medicine cats. He turned to Blackpaw. "Hey, Blackpaw, do you think Crowstar will make you a warrior soon?" He blinked his eyes and thingyed his head in curiosity. He found it interesting to hear what his 'sister' thought.

"ARGH!" Dustpaw was bowled over as Blackpaw leapt on her. Dustpaw giggled as she wriggled around on the floor at her sister. "Hiya Blackpaw!" She grinned, standing up with a jump - Dustpaw was full of beans, as usual. Her bright green eyes swivelled over to Ashenpaw.
"I did ask Drydusk if I could follow you. I was only being curious!" Dustpaw giggled, rolling over onto her back cheekily. As she looked up into the sky, she saw a big ball of birds in the distance.
'Newleaf is on the horizon!' She thought tilting her head as she smiled to herself. She'd never experienced Newleaf, she was born in late Greenleaf when food was still plentiful, but as Leaffall and Leafbare dragged on, she realised how hard life really was.

[atrb=border,0,true][cs=7][bg=000000] There was a smile lit up on my face, as I rolled off of Dustpaw as she sprung up. I grinned at her from the dusty campground, my eyes sparkling. "Gottcha," I mewled, beaming with pride. I purred brightly, my eyes wandering to Ashenpaw who asked me if I was going to be a warrior soon. "I dunno," I grumbled, looking at my paws and shuffling them anxiously.
"Crowstar's been sick half the time, and when he's feeling better he has to catch up on clan stuff... By the time he gets to me, he's too tired to help me learn much." She frowned, looking up at Sandfire and my 'brother' as he was. My ears flicked and I put on a smile- there was no need to be upset about something no one could help. I stood up, shaking the dirt of my fur. I licked down a patch of my fur that was sticking up awkwardly, as a chorus of coughing hit my ears.
Speaking of not being able to help, I thought grimly, my eyes wandering in the den to find a pile of tabby fur in a huddle, shaking with each cough. Stripetail, probably. He was on his deathbed... The poor cat. I tried to clear my thoughts quickly- it wasn't good to dwell on those ideas too long.

[atrb=border,0,true][cs=7][bg=CC7722]Sandfire's eyes turned dark as her head lowered and narrowed after Ashenpaw suggested the meeting place. She didn't reply, her tail just hung low as she heard Blackpaw mumble about how she felt she was never going to be a warrior. Her kit would be a warrior someday, she just knew it. No one doubted Blackpaw's future- it was going to be bright if Sandfire had a say in it.
She nudged Ashenpaw once, frowning for a second, and opened her mouth to mutter something to him, when her brother started to cough. She shuttered, and smiled, lifting her head. "Dustpaw, Blackpaw, I don't want you getting sick. Maybe you can help Ashenpaw find some herbs or something..." She turned around, her tail dragging, and she padded over to her brother without another word. |

"Blackpaw, I'm sure Dad'll make you a warrior soon!" Dustpaw grinned. "You're a brilliant hunter and stuff, I didn't hear you when you were stalking me!" The ginger she-cat giggled. "Black... Black? Black. Black!" She said as she ran names through her head. "Blacktail? Blackfire? Blackclaw? Blackfur? Blackdusk? Blacksky? Blackleaf? Blackface? So many names... I like Blackleaf the best!" Dustpaw grinned, then turning to Sandfire.
"I'd be happy to help Ashenpaw!" She smiled. "I'm sure Drydusk won't mind, I would be helping around camp, wouldn't I?" The she-cat grinned, pawing at the ground slowly, shifting her weight from one paw to the next.

[twilight]
Ashenpaw's bright face dimmed as his mentor looked back at her brother. He went up to her and whispered into her ear. "Sandfire, I know you don't want him to go. Neither do I. But, sometimes StarClan has other plans. Know what I mean? Either way way, I myself would give him a but of honey and feverfew. So that way if he does go, he can go with an eased fever and throat. And if he recovers, it might just help him with his racking coughs." He licked his mentor's shoulder gently before backing out of the den and smiling at the two she-cat apprentices. "Well, Blackleaf would be a good name. But there are others. Like Blackwing, Blackvixen, Blackfire, Blackmoth, and Blackbutterfly." He closed his eyes and gave a little laugh, then twitched his tail. He looked at the sky, his eyes searching. He looked back down to the apprentices. "Well, we better get going, no?"

[atrb=border,0,true][cs=7][bg=000000] I stuck her tongue out at Dustpaw, my tail curling around my paws. "You're just deaf as a frog," I meowed teasingly, purring. I listened to them list of names for me- her and Ashenpaw. I rolled my eyes and grinned.
"Pffttch, my name'll be BLACKSTAR in no time," I objected proudly, standing on my tippy-toes, holding my head high. "I'm-a gonna leave it up to Crowstar though. He makes the best names," I told them all, glancing around the camp. Truly, Shadowclan had the best named cats ever! I grinned, standing up.
"What are we going to go get Ashenpaw? Are we gonna go on an adventure? Maybe we can look for the magical herb," I mewled, prancing around like a kit. Maybe it was because I still was one- sure I was becoming the oldest apprentice, but I was still so lighthearted! I could chase butterflies all day. Maybe Sandfire would scold me for being so careless of my duties. Silly mom, always so pushy.
